The Ingredients

 

Wild Cacao Paste

From the fertile forests of Ecuador, this heirloom, Arriba Nacional cacao is wild foraged from mature cacao trees that live in symbiotic harmony with the land they come from. Never sprayed with pesticides or farmed & fed by rain water, this cacao is hand selected, fermented, dried by the sunlight & finally stone ground into a decadent paste. This raw paste becomes solid at room temperature & is broken up into large chunks. Each chunk is then chopped & ground down into a chunky, scoopable powder to become the base of Kismet Cacao!

Cacao or Theobroma cacao, a native plant to Mexico, Central America & South America, has been cherished for centuries for it’s deep, bold, indulgent flavor & physical benefits. Known as “food of the Gods” or “heart blood”, cacao was traditionally consumed as a hot, stone-ground beverage & traded as a form of currency.

Today, science grants us an even deeper understanding of cacao’s nutrient potential. We now know that cacao is rich in antioxidants, polyphenols, magnesium, calcium, essential fatty acids, & more. The cacao plant contains various compounds and neurotransmitters such as Phenethylamine, or PEA, Theobromine, and Anandamide. Each providing unique benefits such as mood-enhancement, focus, & relaxation. Cacao does contain a very small amount of caffeine that when balanced with Theobromine, offers a gentle, energizing effect without the “jitters” that commonly accompany high-caffeine containing beverages like coffee.

 

Ceylon Cinnamon

Known as the “true cinnamon” variety, ceylon cinnamon is harvested from the inner portion of Cinnamomum verum tree bark. The ceylon variety typically embodies a mild, sweet flavor, contains only trace amounts of coumarin in comparison to it’s sister varieties & has been shown to regulate blood sugar levels. Our ceylon cinnamon is organic, fair-trade, non-irridated & harvested in Sri Lanka.

 

Lion’s Mane Mushroom Extract

Hericium erinaceus, native to North America, Europe, & Asia, is widely loved as a culinary & medicinal mushroom. Lion’s mane mushroom has been shown to be anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, improve mood, support the immune system, support hearth health, boost memory & focus, support gut health, & regulate blood sugar. This powerful fungi is perfectly safe to consume & offers plenty of nourishment for all ages of people to benefit from.

We source a hot water extracted lion’s mane mushroom extract from 100% fruiting bodies to ensure highest quality and potency. The mushroom is never grown on grain, contains no extra starch, fillers or mycelium, is third-party tested & is always certified organic, kosher, vegan, & gluten free.

 

Vanilla Bean

We use real whole-bean, organic vanilla bean powder— no extracts or artificial flavoring here! Our vanilla bean is grown on small, independent farms & hand picked on the Bourbon Islands of Madagascar. The pods are gently cured in the sun & ground down into a fine powder. The vanilla bean powder is free of additives, artificial flavors, alcohol or added sugars. The aroma & authentic flavor in pure vanilla beans have been said to uplift the spirit & soothe the heart. Ironically, vanilla plants are commonly known allies of the cacao tree & have the ability to physically grow on them. I believe cacao & vanilla are true soul mates!

We are grateful to work with an organization that is passionate about working directly with independent, small farms in Madagascar. These small farms allow for more sustainable farming practices and avoid the industrialized mono-cropping of vanilla and other crops that can be hazardous to the well-being of the soil and surrounding ecosystem. By working directly with small farms, farmers are guaranteed higher than “fair-trade” compensation & consistent wages to help ensure specialized training & support sustainable communities.

 

Redmond Real Salt

Harvested from an ancient, untouched ocean bed deposit near Redmond, Utah, Real Salt is unlike any other salt. This salt is mined from 30 feet underground where it is protected by lava rock & a deep layer of naturally occurring Bentonite Clay from modern-day air and ocean pollution. Unlike table salt, Real Salt contains over 60 trace minerals known for its color, flavor & numerous health benefits. Stevia

This stevia is not your average stevia. A tiny tinch of stevia is used in Kismet Cacao to soften the bitterness of the cacao & tie the ingredients together ever so slightly.

The stevia leaves are carefully hand-harvested and processed from the jungles of Bolivia, from wild stevia plants. The leaves are untouched by pesticides making them organic and non-GMO. The leaves are then extracted creating a 100% pure stevia extract without any of the bitterness, added artificial ingredients, fillers, corn starch or funky aftertaste.

Personally, rose has been one of my most favorite flowers to pair with cacao as it has such a pleasant floral taste & energetically feels like it uplifts my mood, helps process grief, reconnect me to my feminine essence & amplify the love I feel in my heart anytime I consume it.
